The Evolution Of Jadin's Room

When we found out that we were having a boy, I knew I didn't want to have the same theme as everyone else had in their nurseries.  We decided we wanted something bright and cheery, with no real "theme".
We started by picking out the colors we wanted.  That process alone takes tons of time, believe me! You think you have the perfect color combination.. then bam!  You find something else that you fall in love with.

We finally settled with Bright orange, turquoise blue,
lime green, and bright white. (Inspiration pictures from google.com below.)

The plan was to have the nursery done before he was born, but we were renting an apartment while I was pregnant, and didn't finish signing papers for the house we purchased until Jadin was almost 2 months.
Then, I went back to work, Nathan got a new job, baby was constantly sick, and we had NO time.
So... Needless to say, the nursery did not get done before he was born.  The new goal? Before his 1st birthday! Whew, let's see if we can pull it off!! :)

Our first thoughts were to paint each wall a different solid color, then 2 main wall colors with stripes of the different colors, then one solid wall color with circles on it.
We fell in love with the circle idea, but weren't sure exactly how we were going to do it, so we just started painting!

Before I go any further, please let me apologize for the quality of the pictures.  They were taken with a phone camera, and are not the best when it comes to quality!

(Also, please excuse the fact that i don't have actual "before" pictures, but you can see the old color of paint in a few of the photos.)

As we started painting the white, we decided that we should only paint half the upper half of the wall white, and then we were going to paint the bottom portion of each of the other walls the other different colors.
Well, as you can see, that didn't quite work either!  We ended up and just went with solid green.

We painted the trim around the 2 existing windows, and the closet, and didn't like the big blank wall.
We then proceeded to paint a fake window!
Ok.. So an orange rectangle on the wall looks out of place...

Lets paint the inside blue! It's looking much more balanced, but that blue "window" looks sort of funny! Should we put a picture there?

No! We should put his name! Perfect!

I painted dots around each of the letters in the coordinating room colors, and up on the blue "window" they went!

Then we started painting the circles.

We came up with several different ways to paint circles! It was a ton of fun painting this room, let me tell you.
After seeing the white run straight into the green with no separation, we decided we should break it up.

So here comes a whole new project!  Putting up a chair rail!

I loved it and after tossing the ideas of which color to paint it, we finally settled with the blue for the chair rail, and orange for the baseboard.

We painted the door white because the out dated brown door was just throwing the whole look of the room off.  I like the way it turned out!
Much better.

His room is still "Under Construction".
We are working on building a closet organizer system,
(Trying to figure out what color to paint the inside of the closet too! Ideas are appreciated!)
getting curtains, I am going to try my hand at a DIY mobile, and obviously there is decorating to be done.
It has been fun so far! I definitely can not wait til it is DONE, tho!

The following pictures are just some more of what it looks like right now.  Don't mind the closet too much, please.  Like I said, we are working on that!! :)  Please comment and tell us what you think about it all so far!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! ♥

So.. about those pictures I was supposed to update.  I obviously never got around to that, so here is the 2nd attempt!

My nephew Mason Allen - 5 months!  I love this lil' boy MUCHO!

My Pride & Joy!  He loves playing the drums!

Jadin being the little monster that he is!

To all of you future parents, current parents, past parents:
Never .EVER. leave a crawling baby unattended. Not for even 5 seconds. 5 minutes? Oh that could be a disaster just waiting .. oh wait it DID happen!

Quiet is never a good sound to hear from my 8 (almost 9) month old son.  He is probably one of the most active babies I have ever seen.  He is constantly going. Crawling, trying to walk, screaming, talking, you name it, he is on the move, and making noise! (and messes)
Anyway... back to my story.  I found Mr. Man in the living room in the middle of his toys leaning over his favorite toy - his giraffe. He was sleeping.  When he finally wears himself out enough to sleep, you let him sleep! So I (very carefully) laid him back, covered him with a blanket, and left him to his nap.
I went about my business cleaning up all his little messes, folding laundry etc. An estimate of 10 minutes later I went to check on him, and, *heart attack* he was GONE.
I looked under the couches (I have raised couches, and he likes to roll under them.) Nope, no baby. I looked behind the shelves, I looked in the dining room, kitchen, side note: by this time I am PANICKING! I then start down the hall and pass the first bedroom (without looking in it.) to his bedroom, my bedroom, and his bathroom. (All the while wondering how he could have possibly made it past me without me noticing!) Still, no baby!
I then begin looking for my phone... um, it's gone as well!  Here I am freaking out because my baby is missing, and I can not find my phone ANYWHERE! Not a good combo. In the midst of my frantic search, I decide to turn off my music (that was playing rather loud) and see if I could hear anything.  WA-LA! I hear "papa papa papa papa" coming from somewhere down the hall... I open the first bedroom's door the rest of the way and there, sitting in the middle of floor, talking on my phone that he had obviously found laying somewhere, covered in lotion that I had left on a shelf in that bedroom, in the middle of a pile of spilled potpourri he had dumped out of 2 vases, was my son talking on the phone to his grandpa. Yes, he had the phone to his ear repeatedly saying "papa" and smearing lotion everywhere.
*Sigh* You have no idea how many mixed emotions I had in those 12 minutes. My Father-In-Law laughed for a rather long time after I explained the story to him, and I too can now laugh about it.  I am getting better at handling situations such as these considering stuff like this happens in my house everyday.  With a dog, a puppy, a baby, a working husband & mom, you are BOUND to have some very interesting stories to tell!

Such a sweet face, right?  I am thoroughly convinced that he dreams at night of ways to give me heart attacks, and make me run all over the place chasing him.

It's ok tho.  I love this little boy with all my heart, and I couldn't imagine my life without him in it!

Him doing his famous fake laugh. It's pretty hilarious!

This is an old pic, but one of the only ones I could find.  Just wanted to say that I love this man with everything in me, and am so thankful that God has blessed me with him.

The only really exciting thing that has happened recently is doing a make-over on Jadin's room!  It is still a work in progress, but I am very happy with the outcome, and might even blog about it later today. Oh! And we picked the theme for his first birthday! I'm super excited about that!  It's going to be so much fun.

♥Much Love♥
